Booking Through Thursday: Multi-tasking Fail

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Deb about mostly books and reading. This weeks question is:

Do you do other things while you read? Watch TV? Cook? Brush your teeth? Knit? Or is it a quicker question to ask when you DON’T read?

So here’s the truth about me and my reading lately. When I was younger, I could read anywhere while doing anything. I could read in a car, in a bar, on a star, near or far. (Ok, enough Dr. Suess.) However, lately I find that when it comes to reading I need it to be just me and my book. Sometimes the tv is on but even that proves to be a bit of a distraction these days. I like to read curled up on my couch or in bed with nothing but silence and the pages of a story. Any kind of noise or outside distraction just pulls me out of the book and I find myself remembering that I need to do laundry and clean the dishes and oh crap did I feed the dog?! And then it’s midnight and I never got back to my book. I seem to be a fail at multi-tasking with my reading abilities. Ah, well. You win some, you lose some, and sometimes you get a few snow days in which to read ALL THE BOOKS! (I’ve just had two snow days so expect reviews aplenty!)

What about you? Are you a multi-tasking master or are you more like me? Let me know!

  1. Books are the perfect addition to snow days! My office was closed on Tuesday due to weather and I did a few chores in the morning and then spent the afternoon curled up with a quilt, a cat, and a book! It was THE BEST!!

  2. It honestly depends how into the book I am. If I’m just reading anything, I struggle multitasking. Now, if I’m really into it? Watch out world, I will somehow manage to carry a book and sweep the floors at the same time and only hit the wall fifteen times.
